Replicability Plan

The replicability plan and transferability of the project´s results at a national level, have been analysed considering the following:

  • Location of CO2 emission sources, volume and flow of CO2 emitted, and origin of the emissions.
  • Location fo potential CO2 consumers.

Three specific replicability conferences aimed at key sectors have been carried out with the participation of 50 people.

Development of an eco-label for the Green CO2

The project has undertaken the development of the first type III ecolabel, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), for a product derived from CO2 capturing. This EPD is based on the Life Cycle Assesment (LCA) tool and provides knowledge of the environmental impact of Green CO2 production, also allowing its comparison with similar products that comply with the same Product Category Rules (specific LCA criteria per product type).

Use of the CO2 captured

CO2 is used in numerous industrial processes and it is consumed in many products on a daily basis. Besides, research into new sustainable uses of the gas is being carried out since it offers a more environmentally friendly alternative than other currently used products.

The LIFE CO2IntBio project´s Green CO2 has obtained the FSCC 22000 Food Safety certification, which guarantees the highest quality for the product to be used in the food sector, among others.

Development of a new product: Green CO2

The Green CO2 produced as part of the LIFE CO2IntBio project comes from the combustion gases of a biomass energy generation plant. The sustainable management of biomass used as fuel is certified under the SURE voluntary scheme, in compliance with the European Union´s REDII Directive.

Besides, the energy used to produce Green CO2 comes from the same biomass plant, which guarantees its 100% renewable origin

REPLICABILITY PLAN

As a part of the project, it has been studied the replicability potential of the project results and the possibilities of transfer the project knowledge (results, technology, procedures) to other industries of the same or other different industrial sectors.

The report "Replicability and Transferability potential assesment" of the LIFE CO2IntBio project, examinates specially the industrial model symbiosis developed in the project from a regional and national perspective.

GREEN CO2 LIFE CYCLE ASSESMENT

The Life Cycle Assement (LCA) for green CO2, aims to quantify environmental impacts associated to the product green CO2 produced in the LIFE CO2IntBio project.

This LCA is the basis for the development of the Environmental Product Declaration associated to the green COand for its elaboration has been used the Product Category Rules described in the register system for the DAP (Environdec).
