Actions

The project will integrate a new CO2 plant to clean, deliver (compressed or liquefied) and, partially, sequestrate CO2 emissions of an existing biomass power plant, optimizing 3 industrial processes (energy, CO2 commercial gas and intensive agri-farming).

Summary

The Life CO2IntBio project Partnership members are the companies Carburos Metálicos, ENSO O&M and Bioeléctrica de Garray, and the public body Fundación Patrimonio Natural de Castilla y León. The Project is being implemented in the Environmental Industrial Park located at Garray (Soria)

Objectives

The general objective of the project is contributing to the mitigation of CO2 emissions in energy intensive industrial sectors

The main project objectives are:

Presentation of the project LIFE CO2 Int Bio in POWERGEN (Paris)

The project LIFE CO2 Int Bio was presented in the POWERGEN fair during the European utility week from the 14th of November through a lecture named "Circular Economy in Biomass Projects with Flexifuel and CO2 CCU".

The lecture was performed by Emilio López Carmona, CEO of the company Gestamp Biomass during the sessiones related to distributed generation.

More than 18.000 professionals related to energy transition in Europe attend this fair.

LIFE CO2 Int Bio Int Bio project was presented at the circular economy meetings program of Castilla y León

Last 10th of October, the project LIFE CO2 Int Bio was presented during the circular economy regional meetings as an example of material recover using new raw materials.

The meeting took place in the Parque Tecnológico of León and was organized in the setting of the Centr@tec program from the Instituto de la Competitividad Empresarial and the regional strategy of circular economy.

The CO2 Int Bio project, finalist to the 2019 CEX excellence Awards

This edition of the CEX Awards was focused on the best practices of "Circular Economy". The five finalist organizations showed their good practices during the act, which was organized by the "Fundación Navarra para la Excelencia" (Foundation for Excellence of Navarra), an entity member of the Excellence Centers; the act took place in "Confederación de Empresarios de Navarra - CEN". Lucía Roca, Chief Operating Officer of Gestamp Biomass, participated during the act.

Innovative system for capturing and purifying CO2 emissions

Life CO2 Int Bio project, coordinated by Fundación Patrimonio Natural de Castilla y León, will develop a CO2 emissions capture and purify system to show carbon dioxide capture viability in industrial installations and transform them into a value added product. The budget is near to 9 M€, of which European Union will contribute with about 2 M€.
