COMMERCIAL USES OF CO2

"Green CO₂" produced in the LIFE CO₂IntBio project is obtained by the purification of the CO₂ present in the combustion gases of a biomass power plant (renewable energy).

CO₂ as a commercial product has multiple applications and is highly demanded by different sectors of activity:

• Food: carbonatation, cooling, packaging.
• Greenhouses: improvement of plant growth by optimizing greenhouse´s atmosphere.
• Water treatment: pH reduction, water remineralization and carbonation.
• Cooling: alternative to fluorinated gases.
• Industrial sector: welding and cutting; manufacture of polyurethane and foamed plastics, cleaning.
• Pharmaceutical and health sector: refrigerated transport of drugs and organ and tissue samples, crop growth.
