Carburos Metálicos obtains a special mention for its CO2 capture and purification plant in the I Environmental Sustainability Awards organized by "El Norte de Castilla".
I Environmental Sustainability Awards "El Norte de Castilla"
El Norte de Castilla organized on March 23, in collaboration with the Environment Regional Government of Castilla y León, the I El Norte de Castilla Environmental Sustainability Awards. Carburos Metálicos received a special mention for the CO2 capture and purification plant and the model developed within the framework of the LIFE project.
The innovative circular economy developed, in collaboratioin with the biomass power plant of Bioeléctrica de Garray, was highlighted, as well as the associated environmental benefits: avoiding emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere, using a resource that would otherwise have been considered waste, reducing transport kilometers by providing a local product and contributing to decarbonising various industrial sectors.
On the other hand, this is the first plant in Spain where CO2 from biomass is used, fact that makes the region of Castilla y León being at the forefront in this type of technology.
