The new CO2 capture and purification plant of Carburos Metálicos, starts successfully its activity in the PEMA of Garray, Soria.
Biomass plant and Carbon capture and purification plant
The LIFE CO2IntBio project began in June 2019, with the objective of demostrate the advantages of an industrial symbiosis model where the CO2 from the combustion flue gas of the biomass power plant of Bioeléctrica de Garray are captured, purified and treated in a new plant of the company Carburos Metálicos to obtain a new CO2 100% from a renewable origin to be used as raw material in other industrial procesess.
The construction of the new facilities started in October 2020 and ended in September 2021, the time when the commissioning works started in the CO2 capture plant.
Finally, since June 2022 the new plant is completely operative after have performanced successfully the tests in terms of production, quality and consumption.
